Product Description

This lidded container has nine figures of divinities on the main frieze. Each figure is in high relief and depicted in a specific pose with their faces, body and objects in crisp detail.

The container sits on three ornamented feet with a hinged lid and plain base. The lid with seven figures contained within cartouches and a cast finial of a six-armed god. The box has been kept well and the faces and chased detailing have remained crisp.

The figures on the main frieze are possibly grandharvas , celestial beings who ‘sing in the court of God.’ Grandharvas are mentioned in the Maharbarta and are minor but often encountered characters.
